Samantha grabs a massive project

Vijay will soon be signing off from his movie career with H Vinoth’s project being his last. He recently wrapped his shooting for ‘The Greatest of All Time’ directed by Venkat Prabhu. Coming to Thalapathy 69 by H. Vinoth, there’s massive news with Samantha being brought on to the project.

Samantha is currently struggling a bit in her career with consecutive box-office failures in the form of Yashoda, Shaakuntalam, and Kushi. The actress has now got a big opportunity and will be paired opposite Vijay in Thalapathy 69. Directed by H Vinoth the film’s music will be handled by Anirudh while KVN productions will bankroll this landmark project.

The film will begin its shooting by the year’s end and post its release, Vijay will move on to his political commitments with his party- Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam(TVK).

Samantha and Vijay are one of Kollywood’s most successful pairings having delivered hits like Kaththi, Mersal, and Theri. This will be their fourth collaboration and with the film being Vijay’s last project, there are massive expectations on this one.

Out of the entire star cast of Kalki 2898 AD, it was Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s roaring performance as Ashwatthama that won the maximum accolades. Big B’s performance won the hearts of audiences all over the world and many felt that finally, Kalki was the film in recent times that managed to showcase Amitabh Bachchan in his true essence. His characterization and moments that elevated him were the biggest USPs of the film.

Amitabh Bachchan has done several big budget Bollywood movies in the recent past such as Brahmastra and Thugs of Hindostan and none of these movies managed to extract the performance out of the Bollywood legend like Nag Ashwin did. His screen presence, dialogue delivery, and action scenes elevated the movie to another level.

Kalki 2898 AD had an excellent 1st weekend in all languages with the Day 4 collections in India being on par with Day 1 numbers. In Telugu states, the Nag Ashwin project has collected around 155 Cr gross. Tamil Nadu has contributed Rs 21 Cr gross, Kerala brought in Rs13 Cr gross and Karnataka markets got Rs 32 Cr gross. Coming to North India markets, the gross stands at around Rs 125 Cr gross.

After the first weekend, the total all-India gross is Rs 346 Cr and the overseas gross is Rs 148 Crs—the total worldwide gross stands at an impressive 494 Cr. Kalki 2898 AD is expected to cross the Rs 500 crore milestone figure with today’s noon shows. The film needs to collect another 300 Cr gross to achieve hit status. Looking at the buzz that the film has created so far, this looks totally achievable by this weekend.

The film has performed exceptionally well in the overseas markets and surpassed Baahubali 2’s 1st weekend North America numbers which stood strong for almost 7 years. Kalki’s superb performance over the first weekend was further boosted by the fact that it was released on Thursday and has four days till the first weekday i.e. today.

Kalki 2898 AD posted record numbers on the weekend. Worldwide, the film has collected 500 crore gross in 4 days. Not only Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil versions do exceptionally well on weekends. On day 4, the film saw a massive jump in collections and collected 100 crore gross in India alone.

With an 11 million gross in North America, the film registers the biggest first weekend for Indian cinema by crossing the epic Baahubali 2. The Hindi version has collected 105 crore net in India; it is expected to do more than 250 crore net in the full run. The Hindi version performance is crucial for the film to join the 1000 crore club. In Tamil Nadu and Kerala combined, the movie has collected in the range of 35 crore, which is excellent. 

In Telugu states, mass stations saw a drop on days 2 and 3, but on day 4, they witnessed a huge jump. The occupancies of day 4 were better than day 1 in Telugu states too. In Telugu, the film has collected 110 crore [including GST]. Worldwide Telugu version share is more than 180 cr, and the film is set to 200 cr and 250 cr share club.

With Kalki 2898 AD Prabhas added one more sequel to his upcoming film list. He already has Salaar 2 in the making directed by Prashant Neel. This film is to be started by now but got postponed with Prashant Neel’s commitment with Jr. NTR. So, Salaar 2 would get on sets only in the next year. Kalki 2898 AD, producer Ashwini Dutt has made it clear that Kalki 2 shoot has been completed upto 60% and likely to go on sets as well. So, there might a release race between Kalki 2 and Salaar 2.

There is alot of CG work involved for Kalki 2. So we may expect the film after next year. On the other hand, Salaar 2 may go on sets lately, but Prashant Neel always makes sure he completes the film in the deadline. So this would make Salaar 2 to release in 2026 as well. Kalki 2 may also look for a release in 2026 along with Salaar 2. These may release in the second half of 2026 also.

On the other hand, Kalki 2898 AD is rocking the box office and has already broken the 500 crore mark worldwide today. The film is racing ahead towards the coveted 1000 crore mark worldwide in the full run.

Aswani Dutt puts high target for Kalki 2898 AD

Vyjayanthi Movies is one of the prestigious banners of Tollywood. The banner produced many blockbusters in the past but slowed down afterwards. But they started making films again and now with Kalki 2898 AD they have once again come on the forefront. Kalki 2898 AD is rocking nationwide with stunning collections and talk. The film is all set to gross 500 crores worldwide this weekend. Now, Producer and owner of Vyjayanthi Movies, Aswani Dutt has put high target for Kalki 2898 AD.

As the film is doing well at the box office, Aswani Dutt who released the film on his own taking risk is extremely happy now. He also shared few details about the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD. About 60% of sequel’s shoot has been completed but release date is not yet confirmed according to him. The producer also expected the film to do a minimum of 1400-1500 crores in the full run as well. This looks like a big target as the film needs a big long run in all the languages.

The film’s fate will be decided by Monday i.e., tomorrow. It will decide if the film would come close to 1400 -1500 crores or end up like RRR more than 1000 crores worldwide. Let’s wait and see.

Allu Arjun calls Prabhas as “Prabhas Garu”

Recent released Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas in the lead role directed by Nag Ashwin. The film also stars Bollywood legendary Actor Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Tamil Legendary Actor Kamal Haasan in other pivotal roles. The film opened to a stunning talk and collections on the opening day and is continuing the dream run at the box office. All reputed celebrities have come in praise of the film and its Star cast. Tollywood Star, Allu Arjun was also one among them and to everyone’s surprise he called Prabhas as “Prabhas Garu“.

Prabhas and Allu Arjun have been friends for many years. They also share close bond. Allu Arjun always called Prabhas by his name in the past days. But now, surprisingly Allu Arjun has referred to Prabhas with “Garu”. He did this in the past for Pawan Kalyan as well. He always called Pawan Kalyan as Kalyan Babai. But he stopped call him this way for unknown reasons. Now Prabhas too seems to have joined this list. Allu Arjun also congratulated the cast and crew of the film. He expressed his happiness over the film’s success as well on his X/Twitter account.

On the other hand, Allu Arjun is busy on his Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film directed by Sukumar is currently in shoot stage and will release on December 6th this year.
