OTT The Savior Of Producers!

Due to the Corona Virus Outbreak, the Government of India has implemented lockdown from March 22nd throughout India. As the positive cases in India have been increasing, the lockdown has been extended. With this filmmaker opting for direct release on OTT platforms.

Various filmmakers from various industries have released their films on OTT platforms. The first big-ticket film from Kollywood released on Prime Video was Ponmagal Vandhal starring Jyotika. Though Jyothika got a good appreciation for her performance, the film couldn’t hit the right chords. And today Bollywood’s big star Amitabh Bachchan’s Gulabo Sitabo which co-stars Ayushmann Khurrana started streaming from today. Even this film was tedious which is not a worthy watch. Still, there are few more films lined up for OTT release ahead. Are OTT releases saving filmmakers? Maybe yes, even if these films hit bit screens post-pandemic they may not generate what OTT’s are offering. Let’s wait if there’s any film that really missed out on its theatrical release.
