Sree Vishnu, who released the comedy entertainer Vishnu Vinyasam last week, returned to theatres this week with the crime thriller Mrithyunjay and sadly, the film has had a poor collection on day 1 at the box office.
Although the movie received average to decent reviews, the turnout in theatres on its opening day was quite low. Over the past few years, Sree Vishnu has built a good reputation for choosing interesting content and entertaining films. But the opening collections of Mrithyunjay have not matched expectations.
Mrithyunjay Day 1 All-India Gross: ₹1.09 crore
Area-wise collections:
- Telangana – ₹51 lakh
- Andhra Pradesh – ₹43 lakh
- Rest of India – ₹15 lakh
The film also had a modest start overseas, collecting around $50K on its opening day.
Overall, the worldwide opening day box office gross of Mrithyunjay stands at approximately ₹1.6 crore, which is considered a weak start at the box office. For comparison, Sree Vishnu’s previous film Vishnu Vinyasam opened with around ₹3.25 crore, meaning Mrithyunjay has managed to collect only about 50% of that opening.
