on December 28th, Vijayakanth, an actor-politician and founder of DMDK, succumbed to his illness at a private hospital in Chennai. As his health worsened, Vijayakanth was taken to MIOT Hospital in Chennai. The hospital reported that Vijayakanth was on ventilator support after being admitted for pneumonia. Tamil Movie Shootings will not be held tomorrow

As a mark of respect to Captain Vijayakanth, Tamil movie shootings will not be held tomorrow on Friday on December 29th. Many celebrities and politicians shared their condolence messages on social media.

Earlier, DMDK party stated that Vijayakanth had tested positive for COVID and was put on a ventilator because of breathing issues, but the hospital bulletin indicated that he had pneumonia. According to hospital sources, the party released that statement before the results for the second round of samples were available.

VIjayakanth’s Demise – A huge loss

The actor-turned-politician made his first public appearance after his discharge on December 14th to attend DMDK’s executive and general council meeting. During the meeting, the party announced that his wife, Premalatha Vijayakanth, would become their new general secretary.

Vijayakanth’s passing not only signifies the loss of a noteworthy star and influential person, but also a big loss to his political party that once had great potential. After M G Ramachandran or MGR, Vijayakanth was the only Tamil actor who achieved notable success in Tamil politics.
