Actor and DMDK leader Vijayakanth passed away. Vijayakanth, the 71-year-old actor who served as DMDK chief, died at a private hospital in Chennai on Thursday. He was on ventilator support after testing positive for Covid-19. Actor and DMDK leader Vijayakanth passed away.
A statement by the hospital read, “Captain Vijayakanth was on ventilatory support following his admission for pneumonia. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he passed away in the morning on 28th December 2023.”
Vijayakanth was hospitalized on Tuesday for a regular health check-up. At that moment, the party stated that Vijayakanth was ‘healthy’ and would be returning home after the tests.
After being admitted on November 20th, the DMDK chief was recently released this month. Vijayakanth was being treated at the hospital for a respiratory condition. Vijayakanth’s rise to fame was highlighted by his successful career in cinema, where he appeared in 154 films, and his subsequent foray into politics.
