The Karnataka government has announced a complete shutdown of theatres from 15th January. This decision has been made in light of the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in Karnataka. Karnataka has reported 50,000 cases just yesterday, and more than 1.5 lakh cases in the last week.

Due to this, the government has decided to shut down theatres from 15th January till 31st January. This will have a massive effect on the collections of the Sankranthi 2022 releases.

Bangarraju is the biggest film to release for this Sankranthi, with many major biggies like RRR and Radhe Shyam postponing their films due to COVID-19. This decision from the government will result in disastrous collections for Bangarraju in Karnataka. Luckily, Bangarraju has managed to collect extraordinary collections in the two Telugu states so far.
