Irumudi is the most watched film of the year among Telugu audiences. Worldwide, the film had collected around 240 Cr gross till yesterday, and today the movie has arrived on Netflix in all languages, following the regular four week OTT window most big films now follow.
A Rare Long Run
Normally, most films end their meaningful theatrical run by the second weekend itself. Irumudi was different. The film kept seeing good numbers even till yesterday, with theatres still collecting a fair share this deep into its run.
So Close to 100 Cr in Telangana
In Telangana alone, the film collected close to 95 Cr gross till now. It could have easily joined the 100 Cr club, especially since this weekend has no notable new Telugu releases that would have taken away screens or footfalls. If the OTT window had been extended by even two more weeks, Irumudi could have comfortably reached that mark.
Very few pan India films have ever touched 100 Cr gross in Nizam alone. Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa 2, Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD are the only names in this club so far. Irumudi misses out on joining this list, and at the worldwide level, it also falls just short of entering the 250 Cr club.
Despite missing both these milestones, Irumudi remains a sensational blockbuster. The film has given a massive comeback for Ravi Teja and has brought big relief and strong profits to the trade.
