Indian Cinema box office Ugadi – Eid weekend delivers blockbusters and disasters

This year, Indian Cinema had a great advantage with Ugadi and Ramzan falling on the same weekend. Few films released across various Industries have tried their luck, and let’s examine the box office stats and performances of these films at the box office i.e. 6th April.

Firstly, L2: Empuraan starring Mohanlal was released on 27th March and the film opened to a stunning reception from the fans and audience. The film has become the Industry Hit of Mollywood by grossing more than 250 crores already. But, the film’s dubbed versions in other languages became disasters.

Bollywood Actor Salman Khan and Director A.R. Murugadoss’ film, Sikandar which released to great expectation suffered badly on the opening day itself. It eventually became a disaster at the box office.

MAD Square from Tollywood hit the jackpot by making use of the festivals advantage. The film secured a unanimous positive word of mouth and has become a big blockbuster. It has also collected around 67 crores worldwide and is racing towards the 75 crore mark. Other Telugu film, Robinhood starring Nithiin became a big disaster and it grossed only 12.5 crores worldwide.

Kollywood Film, Veera Dheera Sooran starring Vikram had good hype before its release, but it suffered after the release. The film has seen a below-average result at the box office by collecting 62 crores worldwide.
