The much-awaited box-office clash is in front of us and both Salaar and Dunki have released in theatres worldwide. While Shahrukh Khan is chasing his hat-trick blockbuster, Prabhas is looking to end his flop streak with Salaar.
So far, Dunki content has managed to attract the class audience [Plexes audiences]. Raj Kumar Hirani has a strong brand among multiplex audiences and that is working well for the film. Salaar, on the other hand, is an out-and-out mass film and is naturally attracting the mass audience. The movie content is working well for the masses and it is dominating the single screens.
Now both movies are expected to have an interesting race at the box office. Both movies cater to their targeted audiences which is reflected in their box office trends as well. Dunki is maintaining strong occupancies in multiplexes compared to Salaar while Salaar is bringing mass walk-ins to single screens in mass territories like Bihar.
Dunki’s total India gross of the film is 34 Cr, and the overseas gross is around 23 Cr. The total worldwide gross is 57 Cr on opening day, an average opening for the film. However, it’s a weekday release and trade circles are projecting bigger numbers as the weekend approaches. The film should grow on the weekend to post big numbers. Dunki has an average start at the box office.
Salaar on the other hand has been appreciated for its mass elements, fights and elevations. The film while receiving mixed reviews has managed to put great numbers in US premieres by crossing $2.5 million mark. It needs to be seen what range opening this Prashanth Neel film does domestically on Day 1.
