A small film has just outperformed two of the biggest releases running in theatres. Anandhi’s Garividi Lakshmi has beaten both Jailer 2 and Ranabaali in Uttarandhra, collecting more than either of them on Thursday, October 22.
Uttarandhra Tracked Gross (October 22)
- Garividi Lakshmi: ₹47 Lakh (75% occupancy)
- Jailer 2: ₹46 Lakh (35% occupancy)
- Ranabaali: ₹30 Lakh (33% occupancy)
Actual figures may vary slightly, but not by much.
Uttarandhra Actual Share (October 22)
- Garividi Lakshmi: ₹31 Lakh
- Jailer 2: ₹28 Lakh
- Ranabaali: ₹13 Lakh
75% Occupancy on a Weekday
The occupancy is the most stunning number here. Garividi Lakshmi ran at 75% occupancy in Uttarandhra on a regular weekday. That’s more than double Jailer 2’s 35% and Ranabaali’s 33%.
It means almost every show of the film is close to full in the region.
Uttarandhra Owns This Film
Uttarandhra has backed Garividi Lakshmi from the very first day. On Day 1, the region alone brought in nearly half of the film’s total collections in the Telugu states, at 52% occupancy.
That’s no surprise. Garividi Lakshmi is a biopic of a legendary folk artist from North Andhra, and it celebrates the region’s culture, language and folk music. Audiences there have embraced it as their own story.
For a small film to beat Jailer 2, a record-breaking Rajinikanth blockbuster, and Ranabaali, a Vijay Deverakonda film, in any region is a huge achievement. Jailer 2 has collected ₹580 Cr+ worldwide in its first week, yet on this day in Uttarandhra, Garividi Lakshmi came out on top.
It’s a well-deserved win, and a reminder of what happens when a film truly connects with its audience.
A Word of Mouth Winner
Directed by Gauri Naidu Jammu and produced by People Media Factory, Garividi Lakshmi opened to positive reviews, and its strong word of mouth keeps pulling audiences in. The film is now well on its way to becoming a big money-spinner for its makers.
