Distributors are stepping back because of continuous failures at the box office

The box office performance of recently released Tollywood films has been quite disappointing. Films such as Ante Sundaraniki, Pakka Commercial, and The Warrior released in June and July so far have all brought great losses to the producers.

The continuous failure of back-to-back films including even much-anticipated big projects has now brought great worry to the trade circle. Now the distributors are stepping back for upcoming movies as producers quoting prices are not working for them.

The streak of losses started in June 2nd week with Ante Sundaraniki. This Nani and Nazariya starrer was a massive box office dud despite getting positive talk and with an excellent cast and crew. The movie completely collapsed on weekdays and most of the theatres ran into deficits and the movie was quickly removed.

Similarly, Rana and Sai Pallavi starrer Virata Parvam also failed to get the cash registers ringing. The film saw massive drops right from the second day. The other two recent releases Chor Bazaar starring Akash Puri and Sammathame featuring Kiran Abbavaram and Chandini Chowdary also ended up as disappointments.

Now all hopes are on Ramarao On Duty, Thank You and pan India biggie Liger. Distributors are now hoping the trend reverses at least next week.
