Balakrishna giving tough fight to Chiranjeevi for first time in years

Sankranti 2023 is going to be a nostalgic one for Tollywood fans. Senior stars Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna will be clashing at the box office making it a great spectacle for film lovers. While Balayya is coming up with Veera Simha Reddy on January 12th, Chiru’s Waltair Veerayya is releasing a day later on January 13th.

The last time the two heroes clashed at the box office was during Sankranti 2017. It was Khaidi no.150 vs Gautami Putra Satakarni. Naturally, as it was Mega Star’s comeback film, the buzz for Khaidi No.150 was higher and commercially it performed better of the two.

From 1995 onwards, Chiranjeevi has taken a lead over his contemporaries. In 2001, Mrugaraju and Narasimha Naidu were released on the same day. While Balakrishna’s film was a bigger hit and collected much more than Mrugaraju in the final run, the openings for Chiru starter were much bigger.

After Chiranjeevi’s comeback also Balakrishna is nowhere near in terms of market and pre-release business. But now, it looks like everything has changed. Balayya is giving tough competition to Chiru in all areas of business including Nizam and even overseas where Balakrishna is very weak normally. The bookings have opened in the USA surprisingly the Veera Simha Reddy bookings are on par or even better than Waltair Veerayya which is a huge surprise
