If someone said a year ago, that comedian Venu will be directing a film called ‘Balagam’ and that, the film will go into win numerous prestigious awards, nobody would believe it.
But fast forward to 2023 and Venu Yeldandi gave the film Balagam, which won hearts not only in India but also globally, winning several International awards as well. It is also undeniably one of the most thought-provoking films of this year.
With Balagam, director Venu has now created his own brand. With just one film, he has showcased what he is capable of. As a result, many actors and producers are looking to work with him next.
Venu is now planning to do a big film with Dil Raju helming the producer role once again. The film is said to be a mass entertainer. Early talks suggest that a senior hero is going to be playing the main lead in the movie.
While this is great news for Venu, the main factor for Balagam’s success is the nativity it was set in. The characters, the setting, and the overall feel of the film were authentic. This is because Venu has seen those characters in his real life. Credit needs to be given for executing his vision and it is clear that there is a director in him.
Having said that, one can only hope that he doesn’t fall into the trap of ‘Mass entertainers’ just for the sake of making a big film As we have seen with Balagam, if the film is good, the people will make the film big.
