Audience are not falling into the trap of big-budget films

Big-budget films are often known to make big waves and create a lot of publicity before their release. Even their theatrical releases are planned on a grand scale leading to mass euphoria. The craze for these big-budget films is, however, dwindling and the audience are not bothered anymore about the budget and scale of the movies.

Normally, industry directors and producers think the audience will show interest in big-budget films and for this reason, they overhype the budget before release. The statements like the film having record budget film for a hero or director are not working anymore. Now audience are not falling into this trap they are more interested in content-based projects and not how many crores are invested in them.

The best example of this is the recent April Tollywood releases. In April, both Samantha’s Shaakuntalam and Akhil’s Agent were promoted as big-budget films with eye-catching VFX and stylish action sequences as USPs. The makers even officially declared that the budget of these films was more than 80Cr. Incidentally, both films failed to get even decent openings and ended up with single-digit shares.
