Atlee Kumar, the filmmaker of Tamil cinema known for his commercial potboiler films starring Vijay, made his debut in Bollywood with Jawan (2023). Releasing in September 2023, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer received rave reviews from moviegoers and emerged as a mammoth commercial success, grossing over 1000 crore INR.
Basking in the film’s monumental success, Atlee shared his excitement regarding his next venture, a multi-starrer film starring SRK and ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay. Calling it a ‘Dream project’, he said it has the potential to mint 3000 crore worldwide, which received mixed reactions from trade experts.
However, it looks like the odds are not in his favour currently. As officially announced by the superstar himself, Vijay’s ongoing film with Venkat Prabhu will be his last outing as an actor. In other words, his acting career (followed by his political entry) is just one project away. On the other hand, SRK has shown keen disinterest in doing cameo roles or multi-starrers. He recently showed a clear red flag for a guest appearance in the Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj film. All of this concludes that Atlee’s so-called ‘Dream Project’ is very likely to remain a dream only.
Having understood the scenario, he is currently working on a script for ‘Icon Star’ Allu Arjun and also a direct sequel to Jawan (2023). Additionally, a film with Salman Khan is in the discussion phase.
