Venky Atluri’s Sir has received a terrific response from the Telugu states. The collection of Sir have, in fact, surpassed Vaathi (the Tamil version) in several territories. The collection on day two of release was on par with the day one collection enabling it to achieve breakeven in several territories already. Dhanush’s powerful performance and GV Prakash’s solid BGM helped the movie immensely in drawing crowds.
The movie brought in special appreciation for Dhanush and even Samyuktha Menon also received applause for her role as a teacher. Speaking about her role at the movie’s success meet, the actress said that before the release of the film, a journalist questioned her choice of role and asked her why did she pick this movie when there was no scope for glamour as well as commercial elements.
Samyuktha said that she now hopes the journalist has received his answer. She added that while her role was a de-glam one, the film certainly had its own commercial elements.
The movie’s breakeven mark in the Telugu states is around Rs 18 crores and looking at the current form, it will achieve the mark and enter into profits pretty soon. Venky Atluri has directed this film which also stars Samyukta Menon, Samuthirakani, Hyper Aadi, and Sai Kumar among others. Sir has been produced by Sithara Entertainments and the music is scored by GV Prakash.
