Aamir Khan is taking a long gap after seeing two back to back disasters. This Bollywood superstar is known to be the most bankable superstar of Indian cinema. He is a perfectionist and his judgement of script is regarded as the gold standard.
But his recent movies have become disasters possibly because of various reasons, this unusual dip in the career gap has forced Aamir to take a long break.
Aamir did a huge spectacle movie called Thugs of Hindustan under the direction of Vijay Krishna Acharya. The movie has ensemble cast like Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bacchan. However, it failed at the box office, critics, and audiences felt that the movie was like a rehash of Pirates of the Caribbean rather hastily. This shocked everyone, as Aamir’s judgement has gone wrong by miles for the first time.
His latest movie is Lal Singh Chaddha, an official remake of a Tom Hanks classic Forrest Gump. The movie is literally Aamir’s kind of feel good stuff with a lot of scope for acting. The movie was well-made, and the actors did a good job overall with few miscasting. Still, the movie couldn’t attract audiences toward theaters.
These two failures making Aamir rethink about the future movies. Rumors are that he might be taking around four years of break from movies and in the meanwhile he might be producing a couple of movies.
This gap would be used to spend time with his family. The online boycott campaigns are also on fire for Aamir Khan movies, and he isn’t enjoying the same level of openings, probably due to hate campaigns.
However, many are also feeling that these hate campaigns are of no relevance at all, it’s the content that is weak or not attractive because of the similarity with western classics which are seen by almost everyone. We just hope that the star recovers, to shine bright again.
