Dhanush’s NEEK Telugu Version Now Streaming

NEEK (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam), directed by Dhanush, stars youngsters in the lead roles. This rom-com drama received good reviews and WOM but was impacted by Dragon’s success at the box office. The film started streaming on OTT in the Tamil version, and now Dhanush’s NEEK Telugu version is streaming on OTT.

Despite bombing at the box office, NEEK got huge appreciations from the OTT viewers after its digital release. But Telugu audiences were disappointed as only the Tamil version was available for online streaming. 

Now, the happy news for Telugu audiences is that Dhanush’s NEEK Telugu version is streaming on OTT. The Telugu version’s title is Jabillama Neeku Antha Kopama, and it is now available for streaming on Prime Video.

The film stars Sarath Kumar, Pavish Narayan, Anikha Surendran, Mathew Thomas, Venkatesh Menon, and Ramya Ranganathan in crucial roles. Priya Prakash Varrier makes an extended guest appearance. Wunderbar Films and RK Productions back it, while GV Prakash Kumar’s music enhances its value.

L2: Empuraan starring Mohanlal is hunting the box office. The records had started from the advance bookings itself and each passing day after that witnessed big milestones for Mollywood. In the overseas market, L2: Empuraan achieved a memorable milestone by joining the $15 Million in just 6 days.

The film has also achieved $5 Million club on the opening day alone making it a record. Later, it went close to $10 Million in 3 days. The previous record was $8 Million collected by 2018 in 6 days which became the industry hit of Mollywood later. But L2: Empuraan has collected nearly double the mark in 6 days.

This itself shows how L2: Empuraan is rocking the box office. Overall, the worldwide gross of the film is around 220 crores in just 6 days and is also set to cross Manjummel Boys which collected nearly 240 crores. The film is also racing to become an Industry Hit by achieving the 300 crore mark worldwide. But, this gets decided by how well the film holds on in the 2nd weekend.

Jana Nayagan bags bigger OTT deal than Coolie

Jana Nayagan starring Vijay is currently under shoot. The film is riding high with a stunning hype. It is of that level that Jana Nayagan has bagged a bigger OTT deal than Rajinikanth starrer Coolie. At Pan India level, Rajinikanth had an upper hand over Vijay but Jana Nayagan beating Coolie in this aspect is mind blowing.

Apart from this, Coolie has a stellar cast of Nagarjuna, Upendra and Aamir Khan playing cameo roles. But still Coolie lags behind Jana Nayagan which is a solo starrer. Jana Nayagan’s digital rights are bought by Amazon Prime Video for 121 crores whereas Coolie’s rights were bought for 110 crores.

This deal is surely surprising. One of the reasons for this amazing deal could be Jana Nayagan being Vijay’s final film. The other reason will also be regarding Netflix’s policy. The OTT platform has already bagged many major films releasing this year. So they have invested heavily in Jana Nayagan which releases next year. Vijay’s stardom is working like anything in this segment.

Tollywood Cracks Down on HD Piracy Leaks

Piracy has been hurting all industries in Indian cinema for a very long time, but recently it started to hurt more as the HD versions of the films are being pirated on the release day itself. Films like Game Changer, Thandel, and the latest MAD Square were affected by the piracy. But the good thing is, Tollywood cracks down on the HD piracy leaks.

Before a few years, piracy meant screen recording of the films, but recently the things have been changed. This year starting marked the piracy HD print leak of big film Game Changer and even the recent releases Robimhood. MAD Sqaure’s HD prints came on online on the release date itself.

The Telugu producers also started addressing this issue one by one. Producer Naga Vamsi, in his latest press interaction, said that they have found a lead about this. The thing is, the piracy print is coming from overseas countries’ censor print. Tollywood cracks down on the HD piracy leaks.

Vamsi also mentioned that they will talk to overseas distributors and do some investigation on this issue and he also mentioned about Dil Raju who said that all producers should take a bigger stand in unity to control the piracy with government’s support.

If the piracy continues like this it will do more damage to the cinema industry. The producers are also in certain situation now where they have to get the rid of the piracy as soon as possible.

As said above, the HD print of the Telugu films seems to be coming from overseas prints only. They must need to put an end point for this. Already, the audiences are not coming to the theaters because of OTT platforms, and now with the addition of piracy, cinema halls are seeing big struggles.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s ‘Lal Salaam’ released in February 2024 failed to reach its expectations. The movie had a low box performance ,much in contrast to its hype prior to the release . Despite Rajinikanth’s extended appearance, the film did not fare well, resulting in large losses for its producers, Lyca Productions.

Following its theatrical run, people eagerly anticipated its OTT release, particularly since Netflix initially bought the digital rights. However, due to several complications, the agreement was apparently canceled. To add to the uncertainty, the film’s production team issued multiple comments following its release, admitting that some footage had been lost and that critical editing adjustments were still pending. These revelations from the director created additional worries.

With no updates for months, fans remained hopeful for an OTT release. Now, after over a year, there is finally good news ,’Lal Salaam’ is set to premiere on Sun NXT on April 4th. This announcement has reignited interest in the film, giving viewers another chance to experience it.

L2: Empuraan starring Mohanlal released amidst great hype and expectations among the audiences and fans. The film, however, ended in a major controversy with a few of its scenes getting criticism online leading to a big backlash. The team was alerted with this and decided to go for a re-censor.

Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, has almost completed shooting, but still, the makers moved the release to 2026 Pongal. Because the makers decided to delay the release, Jana Nayagan’s OTT rights have been sold for a record price.

The main reason for the film to move to 2026 is the OTT deal, as the two digital giants, Prime Video and Netflix, have already locked their slots for this year and are unable to afford a higher price for other films.

All the films, irrespective of big or small budgets, are facing the heat from the digital deals. Jana Nayagan is one among them. Considering both theatrical and non-theatrical business, the makers made a good decision of moving the release to Pongal 2026.

Now it will have big theatrical business as well as big non-theatrical business. Vijay’s Jana Nayagan’s OTT rights have been sold for a record price. In the non-theatrical business, all languages’ digital rights are said to be bought by Prime Video for a sensational price of 121 Cr, which is a very big deal for the makers.

As it is the last film of Vijay’s and it is getting released during the Pongal season, theatrically, Jana Nayagan is expected to have a record business, and talking about the film, it is not a complete remake of Bhagavanth Kesari.
