Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has finally hit theatres today amid huge expectations, but the film’s Yash Toxic CBFC certification process has sparked discussion among fans. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the gangster drama was certified A by the CBFC, with the board ordering modifications before granting certification. The original Kannada version has a runtime of 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds.
CBFC Modifications for Kannada Version
According to mainstream reports, the Yash Toxic CBFC certification involved muting and replacing two words or phrases in the Kannada version, with corresponding changes made to the English subtitles. The CBFC also ordered the inclusion of a disclaimer with voiceover about the nature of the story, along with anti-smoking and anti-drug warnings in legible format. While some industry reports suggested cuts to intimate and violent sequences, mainstream sources indicate the Kannada version received its A certificate without major cuts, though abusive words in subtitles were altered in multiple places.
Hindi Version Faces Additional Changes
The Hindi dubbed version of Toxic required distinct modifications before securing its A certificate just ahead of the August 26 release. An offensive line in the first half and an abusive dialogue directed toward a child in the second half were entirely muted. The CBFC also instructed the makers to replace explicit language and shorten a visual sequence depicting drug abuse.

The CBFC certification details have emerged at a crucial time for Toxic, which is facing largely negative early reactions from audiences and critics. While Yash’s enormous fan following has ensured a massive opening, the film’s long-term theatrical prospects will depend heavily on word of mouth. With the film carrying a massive financial investment, poor audience reception could result in a sharp drop after the initial rush.
