Like how Rajamouli and Baahubali are the pride of the Telugu Film Industry, Mani Ratnam and Ponniyin Selvan are the pride of the Tamil Film Industry. Before the release of Baahubali, there was a lot of hype and excitement in the industry and this was maintained even after the release.
But with Ponniyin Selvan, there was a lot of hype in the industry before the release. The actors called it their pride and supported the film. But after the release, none of the star heroes, directors, or industry members have come forward in support of the film.
Barring a few members, most of the industry persons have not responded to anything about the film. When Baahubali was released, the whole of India was showering praises on the film. Not only the Telugu Film Industry but the entire Film Industry showed its support.
This is not the case with Ponniyin Selvan. Even the Tamil Industry is not posting anything about the movie after its release. The movie collections are sensational in the Tamil territories and it is heading towards an all-time industry blockbuster. But it looks like Mani Ratnam has failed to impress the Tamil industry. We are hoping that he will be able to make a bigger impact with Part 2 of Ponniyin Selvan.
