Chiranjeevi has two films ready to line up, but only one Sankranti. Vishwambhara and Kaaka both want the festival slot in 2027, and the confusion over which one will actually arrive has started again.
Kaaka Has the Official Date
Officially, Kaaka holds the Sankranti 2027 slot. The film, Chiranjeevi’s 158th, is directed by Daaku Maharaaj fame Bobby Kolli. Its title and first glimpse were unveiled on Chiranjeevi’s birthday in August, along with the Sankranti 2027 release announcement.
The film has since moved into dubbing, and post-production is gathering pace.
The Vishwambhara Buzz
But rumours have been going around for a long time that Vishwambhara could take the Sankranti slot instead, with Kaaka moving to summer.
The Kaaka team had earlier denied this officially, making it clear that their film would release only for Sankranti. Now, as the festival gets closer, the talk has picked up again, with strong buzz that Vishwambhara will be the one to hit theatres for Sankranti.
All eyes are now on how the team reacts this time.
Vishwambhara’s Long Wait
Vishwambhara, directed by Vassishta, has been one of the most delayed big films in Telugu cinema. The socio-fantasy film was originally planned for Sankranti 2025 but has been pushed several times due to its heavy VFX work.
Fans have been waiting a long time for it, which is one reason the Sankranti talk keeps coming back.
A Packed Summer 2027
Whichever film misses Sankranti will face a crowded summer. The first half of 2027 is already packed with big releases.
- Fauzi: March 19
- Varanasi: April 7
- Dragon: June 11
That leaves very few clean windows. The film that moves out of Sankranti will most likely need to aim for May to avoid a big clash.
Two Chiranjeevi Films in Six Months
One thing is clear. Chiranjeevi will have two releases in the first half of 2027, one for Sankranti and one for summer.
Coming off the success of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu this Sankranti, Chiranjeevi is in a strong position, and fans are set for a double treat.
Clarity Soon
With Sankranti less than three months away, an official word on which film takes the festival slot is expected soon.
