After his public appearance with actress Trisha Krishnan at a wedding reception in Chennai drew massive attention, Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam has filed a fresh petition in their ongoing divorce case.
What Sangeetha’s New Petition Demands
Sangeetha has approached the Chengalpattu District Court seeking permission to remain in the couple’s matrimonial home until the divorce proceedings conclude. The petition also requests permanent alimony from the TVK Chief.
As a UK citizen, Sangeetha stated that she lacks adequate residential facilities in Chennai. She has asked the court for an interim order allowing her to stay in the current property.
Timeline of the Divorce Case
On February 24, 2026, Sangeetha Sornalingam filed for divorce from Thalapathy Vijay, alleging that her husband is involved in an affair with an actress. According to the family court petition, Vijay has been emotionally detached from his wife since 2021.
The divorce case has attracted significant public interest given Vijay’s dual role as a top actor and the leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
