Vijay Antony is a notable actor in Tamil cinema; in Telugu, he is best known for his role in the ‘Sleeper Hit’ Bichagadu (2016). The actor’s most recent theatrical outing, Romeo (titled ‘Love Guru’ in Telugu), received mixed responses from audiences and has been performing poorly at the box office.
However, the actor believes it to be a good film, and it is the critics who are spreading negativity about it with their poor reviews. In the same context, Antony releases an official statement via Twitter requesting the audiences to ignore the reviews and go watch the film with an open mind.
This move, however, received mixed reactions from Netiens; while some tweeted in support, others felt the film’s performance was due to bad promotions and subpar content. Written and directed by Vinayak Vaithianathan, Romeo stars Mirnalini Ravi as the female lead. The film was bankrolled by the actor’s own Vijay Antony Film Corporation.
