Pawan Kalyan‘s latest release Ustaad Bhagat Singh, directed by Harish Shankar, continues its lukewarm run at the theaters. The film’s 2-day collections indicate a concerning recovery status for distributors and buyers.
Day 2 Collections Drop Sharply
After collecting ₹31.7 Cr share worldwide on its opening day (including GST in Telugu states), the film saw a significant crash on Day 2 with collections dropping to around ₹6 Cr share worldwide. The total 2-day share now stands at ₹38 Cr.
With theatrical rights valued at ₹127 Cr, Ustaad Bhagat Singh recovery stands at just 30% after two days — a worrying sign for buyers who are already facing significant losses.
Poor WOM and Clash Impact Performance
The film’s performance has been heavily impacted by poor word-of-mouth and mixed reviews. The dialogue delivery and content also sparked online trolling, which may have affected audience interest.
Adding to the challenges, the clash with Dhurandhar 2 has split the audience, further denting the film’s box office potential during its crucial opening weekend.
Buyers Pin Hopes on Weekend
With recovery at a mere 30%, distributors and buyers are now banking on Day 3 and Day 4 collections, considering the Ramzan holiday and Sunday advantage. The film desperately needs a substantial jump in footfalls to improve the recovery situation and minimize losses for stakeholders.
