Story: Shiva is an honest cop who meets with an accident along with his wife and daughter. After that, his wife and kid go missing. Who kidnapped Shiva’s wife and daughter? What problems did Shiva faced in finding them? Did he get them back is the main story.

Analysis: Ugram is directed by Vijay Kanakamedala, who has presented Allari Naresh in a different role from his usual self, once again tries to do the same with Ugram. The film had an arresting main plot and starts off with an intriguing note. The first 15–20 mins work very well and make the audience wait for the next proceedings. However, what follows is the usual troupe of a commercial cop with an outdated family track. Except for one or two hero elevation scenes, nothing worked in the flashback. Just when the narration feels lifeless, the movie gets interesting towards the intermission.

The second half maintains the tempo for a while with investigation scenes behind a big crime syndicate, but the overstretched emotions work against the intention of the director. The action sequences were well choreographed, but the lead scenes to those episodes could have been much better. The music was alright.

Plus Points:

  • Allari Naresh’s Performance
  • Starting Episode
  • Pre Interval/Interval Episode
  • Investigation Scenes

Minus Points:

  • Lack of Strong Emotional Connect
  • Outdated Family Scenes
  • Few Dumb moments

Verdict: Ugram tries to mix commercial cop elements and action thriller with an interesting plot point. The film works partly, but does not have a coherent narration and emotional strength to get the desired effect. The film can be watchable but needs patience to sit through it.
