Tollywood Film Chamber Announces Strict Rules About OTT, Satellite Deals, And Artist Payments

Over the last few months, the Telugu Film Chamber Of Commerce has been laying some ground rules for the better functioning of the industry. A few weeks ago even they decided to stop the shooting of films until issues were resolved in the industry.

The chamber has now met again and discussed some key points regarding OTT, satellite deals as well as artists’ payments. The meeting was held at the Telugu Film Chamber Of Commerce in the Dr.Ramanaidu building complex. Points were discussed with stakeholders and all parties involved and the following rules were laid out.

Production Of Films

There will be no per-day payment to any artists’ or technicians. All the artists’ remunerations shall include staff, local transport, local accommodation, and special food. The amount should also be finalized by the producer beforehand and no payment should be made directly to the artist except the agreed initial amount as remuneration.

All the fee details must be entered before the commencement of the shooting to the Chamber. The Chamber will verify the details only after which shooting can be carried out. Strict implementation of daily call sheet timings must also be carried out and the producer should maintain a report of the same.

OTT

The Chamber has been very strict with its rules regarding OTT and there is no change this time around. They have made it very clear that the minimum window for OTT release is 8 weeks regardless of the film’s fate at the box office.

The Chamber also made it very clear that no film shall share their digital/satellite partner in the main title card or use it for theatrical publicity.

Theatrical/Exhibition

VPF Talks are still ongoing and a decision will be made soon. The chamber was supposed to discuss this on 3rd September but it has been pushed to 6th September. The same percentage of VPF will be given in Andhra multiplexes as given in Telangana.

Federation

The Chamber is still discussing this and a final conclusion will be made very soon. The approved and finalized rate cards will be shared with all the production houses very soon.
