Post the failure of Liger, the buyers, and Puri have been at loggerheads with buyers demanding compensation for their losses. Puri, on the other hand, wasn’t happy with this targeted harassment and even filed a police complaint against some buyers and exhibitors.
Recently, the Nizam buyers went on a protest at the Film Chamber seeking compensation for their massive losses. The Nizam buyers in particular are at the forefront of this protest and have gone on a relay hunger strike.
Liger’s Nizam rights were bought by Warangal Srinu for a huge price. Theatre owners gave huge advances as the movie was sold at a record price. Unfortunately, the movie turned out to be a disaster. Post this, Puri Jagannadh promised Warangal Srinu that he will take care of the compensation and Warangal Srinu promised the same to theatre owners.
But, no settlements have been made so far and the buyers have gone on strike because of this. Warangal Srinu has informed the theatre owners that he hasn’t received any amount from Puri so he cannot return any money now to the theatre owners. The theatre owners are now directly attacking the Puri Jagannadh through this strike. Asian Group’s Sunil Narang, who is a top exhibitor in the Nizam region has also joined this strike along with other exhibitors from across Telangana.
