Before the release of RRR, Rajamouli and the entire team thought that RRR will be bigger than the Baahubali franchise and that it will create new records. Despite the success of RRR, it is nowhere near the range of Baahubali.
It is only in Telugu states that the film has created a new record and that too after adding some bloated numbers and GST returns. Talking about footfalls, it is nowhere near Baahubali. The film did exceedingly well in Nizam but in AP, many buyers faced losses. Coming to Karnataka and Kerala, the film has ended up as a loss venture. In Tamil Nadu and North India, the film just achieved breakeven. The overseas collections of the film however are superb.
Overall, the film’s box office performance is not up to the team’s expectations. But after releasing the film on OTT, it received a huge response from international audiences and the team decided to promote it further and release the film in the international markets.
The film has been heavily promoted for the last few days and released in Japan but the numbers are very disappointing till now. RRR has collected only 4 crores in Japan so far which is far below expectations. The team is now eyeing a release in China but we will have to wait and see how it will perform there.
