Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s latest film, Thandel has been released in theaters worldwide today. The film’s songs were too good and it also had decent advance bookings for the first day. Let’s check whether the film has met the audiences’ expectations.
Story:.
Thandel tells the true story of a fisherman who was lost at sea, and arrested by the Pakistani police, and ultimately returned to India. The primary emotion focuses on the couple—Satya (Sai Pallavi) and Raju (Naga Chaitanya). The film delves into the consequences of the unfortunate event on their lives, and what’s efforts did Satya put to get Raju out of jail.
Performances:
Naga Chaitanya portrays the lead character, Thandel Raju. He delivers a powerful performance and displays perfectly the required emotions. Sai Pallavi once again impresses in the character of Satya, and though her characterization appears repetitive, she makes up with her intense act. Prakash Belawadi, Divya Pillai, Karunakaran, and Mahesh Achanta perform their parts decently
Analysis:
Despite having a heavy tone, the first half has an engaging feel. The scenes between Chaitanya and Pallavi, along with soulful music, provide the right impact. The train station scene stands as the best one in this segment, in which lead pair’s acting and the emotions have a solid impact. However, in the second half, the director Chandoo Mondeti, shifts his attention from the emotional heart of the story to a patriotic viewpoint, bringing unnecessary parts/characters against the backdrop of Pakistan Jail. A random villain-like character irritates and the confrontation scenes of him with the Hero do not land right. Moreover, Sai Pallavi’s approach to protest and Aazaadi episode could have been handled better. However, the last twenty minutes provide the needed emotional impact.
Positives:
- Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s Characterization/Performance
- Scenes between the lead pair in the First Half
- Devi Sri Prasad’s Music
- Border Episode Near Pre-Climax
- Visuals
Negatives:
- Slow Pace
- Unnecessary Patriotic Scenes
- Few Convenient Moments
Thandel Movie Review and Verdict:
Thandel is a decent emotional drama. Though the film has a few flaws, like the inconsistency in the second half and dull feel here and there, the performances of Naga Chaitanya/Sai Pallavi, Devi Sri Prasad’s music, emotional scenes work well for the film.
