Starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashii Khanna, and Srinidhi Shetty, Telusu Kada is projected to be a romantic family entertainer releasing for the Diwali weekend. A few promotional content items, like the song ‘Mallika Gandha’ and the teaser, have worked to an extent and generated a decent buzz among moviegoers. Siddhu’s last film, Jack, which released earlier this year, failed miserably, and the Tillu star has pinned a lot of hope on Telusu Kada. The film is directed by costume designer Neeraja Kona, who is making her directorial debut. Let’s dive into the review to see if the film can be a perfect watch for this Diwali weekend.
Story:
Varun (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) who aims to have a good and happpy family after loosing his parents during his childhood, finds his love intrest on Raaga (Srinidhi Shetty) during their collage days but Raaga who does not belive in marrige and which ends up as breakup. Later Siddu gets married to Anjali (Raashii Khanna) and the rest of the story revolves around how Varun ends the conflicts when his ex Raaga enters into their releationship intentionally.
Performances:
The film completely revolves around the main leads Siddhu, Raashii, and Srinidhi, and all three of them have given their best performance. Siddhu, who is well known for his dialogue delivery with attitude, has once again delivered his best but still seems to have a ‘Tillu’ hangover. Harsha Chemudu, who has very good screen time, brought quite a few laughs with ease in both halves. Annapoornamma, playing a grandmother’s role, made an impact in the later part of the film, but the rest of the cast had nothing much to do.”
Analysis:
Costume designer turned director Neeraja Kona has picked a very relevant plot that explores the confusion and cluelessness of the current generation regarding relationships. The film starts on the right note and dives directly into the main plot by clearly setting up Siddhu’s characterization. The film’s dialogues are its main backbone, keeping the narrative running. The two well-composed songs by Thaman in the first half are also very well picturized. The camera work and the production values are commendable. However, despite the core plot and conflict being strong, the execution was not very convincing, as none of the emotional blocks make a lasting impact. The director tried hard to balance the humor and the emotional drama, but the mix didn’t sit well with the film’s overall tone. Furthermore, the screenplay featured repetitive scenes that hampered the flow, and the background score could have been much better.
Positives:
- Siddu Jonnalagadda’s Performance
- Production Values
- Runtime
- Few Dialouges and core plot
Negatives:
- Week Execution
- No emotional connect
- Second Half
Verdict:
Overall, Telusu Kada has a good core plot, but due to its weak execution, the film may not appeal to all audiences. You can give this decent romantic drama a try for the performances of the lead star cast.
