Ravi Teja, who hasn’t had a hit in recent years, has come up with Irumudi: a family drama with a touch of devotion and thriller elements. The film has gathered positive pre-release buzz and the advance ticket sales were also superb. Let us find out how well the film has been made in the following review.

Story

Trinath Rama Kasu, also known as Trinath (Ravi Teja), is a farmer and a devoted follower of Ayyappa Swamy living in a remote village. He is a loving father and husband, but he struggles with alcoholism.

He encourages his daughter, Mani Kanta, also called Manemma (Baby Nakshathra), to be courageous and to share everything about her daily life with him. Trinath treats every girl in the village like his own daughter and supports them whenever they face issues.

The story unfolds around the challenges that Trinath and his family encounter due to Manemma’s outspoken personality, and it explores how he overcomes his drinking problem.

Performances

Ravi Teja delivers an effective performance in a subtle role. He perfectly shows the emotions according to the scenes and shares great chemistry with Baby Nakshatra. The kid also performs really well with perfect body language and acting.

Priya Bhavani Shankar, Sai Kumar and Swasika make their presence felt, while Ajay Ghosh, Rajkumar Kasi Reddy and others are alright.

Analysis

Shiva Nirvana starts Irumudi on a generic note. The hero introduction and the establishment of the world is decent, and the impact grows better in the proceedings as the film moves forward.

There is nothing out of the world happening, but the scenes between Ravi Teja and Baby Nakshatra work well. The action parts are presented as a character trait rather than heroic moments.

The scenes which discuss parenting and the safety of girls are fine, and the key moment towards the interval is handled very effectively. Villain characters lack depth, and the suspense about them wasn’t well developed.

The second half keeps up the good vibe with the Deeksha episode and song. The Malle Poola Pallaki Song and following action episode are well done. Then comes the film’s biggest tragic moment, adding deep emotional depth.

While the pre-climax portions come across as formulaic, the movie still conveys the desired emotional effect perfectly with a deeply moving climax.

Positives

  • Ravi Teja’s Performance
  • Emotional Scenes
  • Pre-Post Interval Sequences
  • Climax

Negatives

  • Villains roles could have been established or handled better
  • Pre-Climax

Irumudi Review – Final Verdict

Irumudi is an engaging emotional drama powered by Ravi Teja’s natural performance and Shiva Nirvana’s sincere direction. The film does have a few sluggish stretches, and the pre-climax could have been better, but it stays rooted in the emotional core of the father-daughter relationship and delivers an effective and moving climax.
