Telugu Film Industry Is Shocked with Bangarraju Bookings

The rise of Omicron in India has caused fear among many sectors. One such sector is the Telugu film industry. Sankranthi has always been a massive occasion for Telugu films, but this year there is only one biggie that is releasing for Sankranthi. Biggies like RRR and Radhe Shyam have backed out from a Sankranthi release due to Omicron.

Bangarraju is the only biggie that is releasing for this Sankranthi. The trailer featuring Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Krithi Shetty, and Ramya Krishna promised a full-on family entertainer. The trailer and songs have also been received positively by the Telugu audience.

But, the team of Bangarraju and the Telugu film industry have been hit with a major shock. Bangarraju was expecting phenomenal advance bookings due to the hype generated around it. But, it is far from phenomenal. The advance bookings are shockingly low in certain territories.

The USA pre-sales are under 20K, whereas the bookings in Karnataka are disastrous. Nagarjuna usually holds a decent market in Karnataka. The bookings in Nizam are very poor. The Andhra bookings are average and not up to the mark.

This is a clear sign that Omicron is playing on the minds of the audience. This has sent the Telugu film industry into a shock because there are a lot of big releases yet to release, and a poor audience will definitely affect the market drastically. Even the last weekend reported terrible, record-low collections at the box office.
