Yes, it happened recently with Kanulu Kanulanu Dochayantey director Desingh Periyasamy.
Kanulu Kanulanu Dochayantey is a romantic crime drama featuring Dulquar Salman and Ritu Verma in the lead roles and Gautham Menon as a cop. This movie was released a couple of weeks before the lockdown and performed well at the box-office with critical reception. Though it was a debut for Desingh Periyasamy, he handled the script expertly and played a key role in making it a huge success.
Recently, Rajinikanth happened to watch this movie and liked it very much. A couple of days ago, Rajini personally called the director and congratulated him for his excellence in directing the film like Kanulu Kanulanu Dochayantey and also asked to ready a script for him.
As a Rajini fan, Desingh felt very happy and shared this news on twitter without mentioning Rajini’s name but somehow the audiotape of their conversation got leaked on the internet and turned viral within no time. Later, he posted another tweet sharing that he is not happy with what happened and shocked to know that their conversation was leaked on the internet. However, he is very lucky to direct Super Star at very start of his career.
After Darbar, Rajinikanth announced his new project with director Siva which was tentatively titled Annaatthe being bankrolled by Sun Pictures head Kalanithi Maran while D Imman is roped in as a music director. Annaatthe engaged a star cast including Nayantara, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khusboo and Prakash Raj will be seen as an antagonist. The film will hit screens in 2021.
