Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru which released in November 2020 on Amazon prime India received a superb positive response from both audience and critics. The film is now one of the most-watched Indian films on Prime Video. The film is rated 8.7 on IMDB.
Early this year The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had revealed a list of 366 feature films that were eligible for consideration for the 93rd edition of Oscars. Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru, Directed by Sudha Kongara was part of this list. This movie is based on the life story of Captain Gopinath. Film has entered the race for The Academy Awards in many categories including Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Actress and a few more. Voting for these 366 films ran till the second week of March and the Final list of nominated films was announced today. Sadly, Soorarai Pottru couldn’t make it into any list of final nominations.
