For a few days, the news of Yatra 2, the biopic of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was doing rounds in the industry circles. It was reported that the film’s official announcement will be out soon, but someone leaked the film’s official release date poster online, and it is now going viral on the internet.
Yatra was the biopic of former United Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The film was directed by Mahi V Raghav with Malayalam star Mammootty playing the role of YSR. The film became a success and it was crucial in creating an impact on the public’s opinion about YSR and his journey to the CM seat. Now, Mahi V Raghav is getting ready to make Yatra 2.
The movie team had planned to release the official release date poster on July 8th on the occasion of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s birthday, but the picture got leaked online. So, as the poster already got viral, the team officially announced the release date of the film.
Yatra 2 will show the incidents which are important in YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s victory in the 2019 elections. The problems he faced post the demise of his father YSR, issues with Congress high command and starting YSRCP, his own party. All these events are said to be shown in Yatra 2 until YS Jagan becomes Chief Minister with an outstanding majority in the last elections.
Tamil actor Jiiva will play the role of YS Jagan in Yatra 2. A first look poster is released with the trademark hand weaving of YSR and YSJ. It also has a caption that reads, “This world may not know who I am. But, remember one thing, I am the son of YS Rajasekhar Reddy”. Santosh Narayanan is said to be the music composer of the film. Yatra 2 will hit the screens in February 2024 before the general elections of Andhra Pradesh.
