Producer SKN‘s offhand remark about Peddi at a Chennai Love Story promotional event sent the Telugu film industry grapevine into overdrive — until SKN stepped forward with a video clarification and apology.
The SKN Peddi Comment That Sparked the Confusion
Ram Charan‘s Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner, was announced for an April 30 theatrical release. Since the film had already been postponed once, speculation about a second delay had been building on social media.
At a Monday evening promotional event at Allu Cinemas for the upcoming film Chennai Love Story — starring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya — co-producer SKN addressed the crowd. “We initially planned to release Chennai Love Story on June 26,” he said. “But Sai Rajesh just told me that Peddi is also coming on the same date. So, we will announce our film’s release date soon.”
The comment spread fast. Trade circles began reading it as confirmation that Peddi had quietly shifted its release date — even though the makers had made no official announcement.
SKN Issues Apology and Explains the Mix-Up
In a video statement released shortly after, SKN broke down exactly what happened.
“There was a small miscommunication during the first single launch event,” he said. “When I asked Sai Rajesh about our release date, he told me that tweets were going around about Peddi releasing on June 26 — and that we should wait for an official confirmation before announcing ours. But in all the noise and excitement, I misheard and thought the date had already been confirmed.”
He added that he only realized the mistake after stepping off the stage.
“Something I said got taken the wrong way, making it look like I had announced the release date of a major film. I sincerely apologize for that. Please do not misunderstand my intention.”
SKN was also clear that he has no information about Peddi being postponed. “I have not heard anywhere that the film has been postponed. If there is any such update, the makers themselves will announce it. Whenever Peddi releases, it is sure to become a huge success.”
The clarification has put the rumours to rest for now. The Peddi team is yet to make any official statement on the release date.
