Ram Pothineni’s Skanda and Srikanth Addala’s Peddha Kapu 1 which featured Debutante Actor Virat Karna as the lead both were failures at the box office. While Skanda was able to generate atleast somewhat decent collections, Peddha Kapu 1 was a massive disaster at the box office. Both movies have made an official announcement about sequels but with the bad results of both the films the sequel plans are said to be cancelled.
Boyapati Sreenu has moved to other projects and Srikanth Addala also reportedly doing the same. The climax of Skanda revealed that Skanda 2 will show about the new Ram Pothineni character. In ‘Peddha Kapu 2,’ the focus was supposed to be on how Virat Karna’s rise and rule will affect the fate of his village and people. It was expected that Srikanth Addala will show him becoming a Minister in the second part.
However, as both the films faced bitter results at the box office, it is very unlikely that Skanda and Peddha Kapu having their sequels. Even the stories of the films do not have many intriguing elements which can make the audiences wait for the Sequel.
Nowadays, Directors have begun to view sequels as a selling factor. They are trying to swindle the audience by making them believe that their movies are more than what they have to offer. The second part’s outcome is unknown to everyone and nobody can guarantee the success. The key is to make the audiences believe in the suspense around the second part.
