The tale of two Telugu states is quite contrasting when it comes to ticket rates. On one hand, we have AP Government which released G.O. 35 and ordered a fixed slab for ticket rates. On the other side, we have the Telangana government that has ordered astounding hikes in ticket rates
The Telangana government has issued a G.O which has given guidelines to theaters and multiplexes about the increase in prices as per the seating class. The minimum price for tickets in an AC theatre is now Rs 50/- + GST while the maximum price is Rs 150/-+ GST.
Coming to multiplexes, the minimum pricing decided is at Rs 100/- +GST while the max pricing is at Rs 250/-+ GST. In the case of recliners, the maximum pricing has been established as Rs 300+ GST.
In Telangana, the movie ticket rates are increasing continuously, starting with Akhanda then Pushpa Now for RRR Ticket prices have more than doubled. Multiplex chains like PVR have increased their prices by 50%.
These hikes are making people wonder the measures taken by the Jaganmohan Reddy government were actually correct. Now the only thing that AP Government needs to do is bring a G.O that satisfies both exhibitors as well as the people.
