AP Government permits the reopening of closed theatres

AP government has ordered the reopening of the closed theatres in the state. This order has brought in a sigh of relief to the theatre owners whose centers were seized by officials during raids across the state.

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken serious cognizance of the mismanagement of cinema theatres in the state. The government is also taking the issue of ticket prices quite seriously and conducting surprise checks.

The government has also not been willing to go back on the price rates for quite some time. This decision has put the producers and exhibitors in a spot of bother as they are already reeling under losses due to Covid enforced lockdown.

However, now the AP government has softened its stance on the issue and has permitted the theatres to resume their operations. The theatre owners though will have to fulfill all the compliances and make a request in front of the Joint Collectors. To complete this formality, the government has given one month’s time to the theatre managements.

This decision was taken after R Narayana Murthy along with a delegation met AP I&PR Minister Perni Nani. The minister stated that 83 theatres that were shut down across 9 districts can now function as usual.
