Suriya’s Scene is heading for a big start in Kerala. Bookings opened only last night, and in less than 24 hours, the film’s opening day pre-sales in the state have already crossed ₹2 Cr.
At the current trend, Scene is set to post Suriya’s biggest-ever opening in Kerala.
The Jithu Madhavan Factor
A big reason for the craze is the director. Scene is directed by Jithu Madhavan, the Malayalam filmmaker behind the hits Romancham and Aavesham. Both films were huge successes in Kerala, and his name alone has made Scene one of the most awaited releases in the state.
The film also has strong Malayalam connections in its cast, with Naslen and Nazriya Nazim on board. Add Suriya’s strong fan following in Kerala, and the film has built big anticipation among Malayalam audiences, along with the Tamil and Telugu markets.
Already Ahead of His 2026 Releases
The pre-sales alone have already beaten the full opening days of Suriya’s two earlier releases this year.
Suriya’s 2026 Openings in Kerala
- Karuppu: ₹1.85 Cr (Day 1)
- Vishwanath and Sons: ₹1.5 Cr (Day 1)
- Scene: ₹2 Cr+ (pre-sales, in under 24 hours)
Kanguva Record in Danger
Suriya’s biggest opening in Kerala so far belongs to Kanguva, which collected ₹4.2 Cr on its first day.
At the current pace, Scene is set to open with at least ₹6 Cr in Kerala. That would comfortably beat Kanguva and give Suriya a new career-best start in the state.
Diwali Release
Scene releases worldwide on November 6 for Diwali. In Tamil Nadu, the film will also benefit from the new GO allowing six shows a day from 6 AM in the first week of release.
With strong bookings in Kerala, a fresh rule in Tamil Nadu and the festival holidays ahead, Scene is lined up for a big opening across the South.
