Kajal Agarwal is back in an intense action packed role in Satyabhama. The trailer of the film managed to impress the audience with Kajal showcasing her action prowess and intense side. Directed by Sumna Chikkala, Satyabhama is a crucial movie for Kajal and she has been actively promoting it for past few weeks as a power-packed package of action and thrilling elements. Let’s see if the film has enough punch in it.
Story:
Satyabhama is the story of Kajal Agarwal in the titular role as an ACP. For her, duty comes first and she believes in going to extreme ends to fulfill her duty. She is approached by a woman named Haseena, who reports domestic violence from her husband. Unfortunately, Haseena is killed and later on her brother is abducted. Who’s behind all this? how this case turns Satyabhama’s life upside down and will Satyabhama solve the mystery is what the movie follows.
Performances:
Kajal’s look and body language as a tough cop are spot on and her characterization is quite well-developed. She looks stylish and impresses as a duty-bound cop. However, her inexperience and weakness in stunts are quite visible and her fight scenes look unconvincing in many places. Prakash Raj, Naveen Chandra, Ravi Varma, and Harsha Vardhan provide decent support but there’s nothing much to take home.
Positives:
- Kajal’s look and characterization
- Engaging 1st half
- BGM
Negatives:
- Predictable scenes
- 2nd Half
- Kajal’s action scenes
- Screenplay
Verdict:
Satyabhama has its own flaws in writing and its inability to keep the audience hooked in the second half dilutes the viewers’ experience. The film definitely has some high points and if you enjoy investigative thrillers or are a Kajal Agarwal fan, you’ll surely have a better experience watching it.
