Sankranthi isn’t just a festival of joy for telugu people but also a festival of movies. It is well known that big stars eye on sankranthi to release their movies to garner huge collections at the box office and also take movie to larger section of audiences. 2023 sankranthi is no different.
We already saw couple of announcements of two biggies coming from sankranthi, one is balayya’s (f)action thriller and other being Waltair veerayya, a megastar mark entertainer. Though Adipurush was initially touted to be a sankraanti release, it later backed out due to patchy work in vfx. However, Varisu (Varasudu) starring Thalapathy Vijay is going to hit the screens right on time for sankranti as it is an equally good season in tamil as well.
In this connection, the departure of Prabhas’s mythological drama Adipurush created room for Akhil and Surender Reddy’s first collaboration Agent. Agent initially not a Sankranti release hit the headlines due to change of plans. But the latest sources confirm that Agent is not going to come for the big festival.
This leaves a lot of room for the senior superstars to enjoy more theaters and audiences. This might even be an advantage for Varisu/Varasudu as the director of the movie has got a record of entertaining class and mass audiences effectively.
Akhil who is eyeing on a big success ever since his debut might be disappointed to lose a great movie season that ideally enhances his market strength.
