Salaar, the most awaited film of Rebel Star Prabhas and KGF Series Director Prashanth Neel has finally hit the theaters worldwide today. It is widely known that the film has been surrounded by massive expectations with regard to its content and box office performance. Did the film meet those expectations? Let’s find out in the Salaar Movie Review. Salaar turns out to be a soulless action drama.

Story: Prabhas) and Varada (Prithviraj) are two best friends in Khansaar. Varada, the ruling persons ‘s son and while Deva is an ordinary person. They can do anything, even sacrifice their lives or ruling territory for each other. However, situations take a turn for the worse in Khansaar,In order to keep them safe, he sent Deva and his mother outside of Khansaar. However, circumstances arise that force Varada to bring Deva back to Khasara. The plot revolves around the situations leading to this decision and what Deva does upon returning to Khansaar.

Salaar First Half Review:

Salaar started very strongly by showcasing good emotions, creating an excellent drama, and threads with solid characters. Prabhas’s characterization was dealt excellently in the 1st half with terrific screen presence. The first flow, the elevation scenes, and the two action blocks (coal mine action block and interval action block) were a feast for the audience. Prabhas proves again how good his screen presence and body are in action blocks. Prithviraj, Shriya Reddy, Eshwari, Jhansi, Shruti Haasan, and multiple characters were introduced with solid characterizations and emotions. Every department works so well for the 1st half. Although not much story is revealed, the setup was created excellently for the 2nd half.

Salaar Second Half Review

The introduction of Khansaar’s world origin and its people is powerfully presented. However, when he introduced the ruling pattern and characters, it led to confusion similar to Ponniyin Selvan with numerous names. Each character was elevated very powerfully with a strong army base. The tug-of-war expected between Prabhas and the ruling people wasn’t well executed. Prashant Neel failed to establish a strong foundation, making the Khansaar’s people and army seem weak. The flow was inconsistent, and Prabhas didn’t maintain the same screen presence in the second half. Prashant Neel completely failed to write the drama Emotions in the second half. Except for one scene where Prabhas saves women, nothing Works.  Court scenes, voting scenes, climax action blocks, and the lead to the second part lacked logic and emotion. The 2nd half mainly relied on elevations with no substance and bad music.

Positives:

  • Prabhas’s terrific screen presence
  • Action blocks and elevation shots
  • The initial setup in 1st half
  • Khansaar world introduction

Negatives:

  • Lack of emotions
  • Weak Drama and Characteristics
  • Loud music
  • Lengthy 2nd half

Salaar Movie Review and Verdict:

Overall, the movie is a good watch for the mass audience as the action blocks are presented excellently. However, for others, it is below average as the story and emotion could have worked better. Prashant Neel said there would be a lot of drama in the film, and Prithviraj’s character would be a big pillar, but neither was shown on-screen. He created a Khansaar’s world like KGF but failed to connect to the world, as there was only action and no emotion or a strong story.

Bottom line: A Soulless Action Drama
