Salaar has no chances to break Leo’s Overseas opening. It is widely known that Pan-Indian star Prabhas and Prashanth Neel’s Salaar will be released on December 22nd. The film’s overseas bookings opened recently, and though the trend is good, Salaar has no chances of breaking Leo’s overseas opening.
Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo took a phenomenal opening with 8M+ on day 1, a record-breaking opening for Kollywood, and it also happens to be a Non-SSR record opener Overseas. The trend of Salaar in overseas before the postponement was sensational, and everyone expected the opening to be equal to Rajamouli movies overseas.
But now the current trend is not as heavy as before. As said above, the bookings are strong, and Salaar will deliver excellent numbers, but getting numbers in the range of Baahubali 2, RRR, and Leo seems not possible now.

The combo of Prashant Neel and Prabhas should aim to join this club, break Leo, and emerge as the number-one overseas opener this year. However, the buzz and promotional content did not generate the required buzz to help the film enter the club mentioned above, and the movie also has competition with big Hollywood films like Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom scheduled to be released simultaneously.
Salaar will also face competition from the Indian film Dunki, so it will not have the most significant release like the previous date. So the movie has no chance to break Leo and emerge as this year’s number-one Overseas opener. Leo will likely continue as the number-one opener for overseas this year.
The movie, starring Prabhas in the lead role, is an action-packed drama that has been in the making for over two years. The Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran is set to make his Telugu debut with this movie. Shruti Haasan, Jagapati Babu, Eshwari Rao, and Sriya Reddy are the other actors in the film.
The film, directed by Prashanth Neel, will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, on December 22, 2023.
