Ranbir Kapoor has apologised for the slip of the tongue that went viral from the Ramayana event in Kolkata. And he did it with a smile, turning the moment into a joke.

What Went Wrong in Kolkata

At the Ramayana event in Kolkata on Dussehra, Ranbir wanted to say that no matter how strong evil is, goodness and honesty win in the end. But his words came out the other way round, making it sound like goodness and honesty perish in the end.

The slip left people on stage exchanging looks, and clips of it quickly spread across social media, with plenty of memes and jokes.

Ranbir Says Sorry

A day later, Ranbir addressed the moment and apologised for the mix-up in his “buraai” comment. He made it clear that it was simply a slip, and that he meant to say the opposite.

A Rockstar Twist

Ranbir didn’t let the moment get heavy. He jokingly quoted a line from Jo Bhi Main, his popular song from Rockstar, which is all about words failing to say what you really mean.

It was the perfect way to laugh at himself, and fans loved the self-aware humour. The joke quickly went viral, this time for the right reasons.

Fans Rally Behind Him

Most fans had already understood what Ranbir meant from the start. His light-hearted apology has now turned the trolling into appreciation, with many praising him for owning the mistake gracefully.

Ramayana Promotions Roll On

The Kolkata event was part of the film’s city tour. The team was in the city with Yash and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who announced at the same event that Ramayana will be tax-free in the state.

Ramayana holds its world premiere in Los Angeles on October 27 and releases worldwide on November 5.
