Ramayana has opened to encouraging reviews and positive word of mouth, but its Hindi box-office performance has sparked considerable discussion. Early trade estimates suggest that the film collected approximately ₹50–51 crore nett in the Hindi market on its opening day, including 3D charges. While this is a substantial figure by most standards, expectations were considerably higher given the film’s enormous scale, star cast and reported budget. The opening has therefore prompted comparisons with some of the biggest Hindi releases of 2026.
Ranbir’s Stardom Under Scanner
The comparisons with Dhurandhar 2, Drishyam 3 and Toxic have attracted particular attention. While Dhurandhar 2 reportedly opened with around ₹120 crore nett, Drishyam 3 collected over ₹60 crore. Yash’s Toxic, meanwhile, is being cited for its reported Hindi opening of approximately ₹54 crore. The comparison is especially interesting because Toxic is a Kannada production dubbed into Hindi, whereas Ramayana is a Hindi-led project. However, these figures are based on trade estimates and may vary as final numbers emerge.
South Saved the Day
Despite the relatively modest start against expectations, Ramayana has several factors working in its favour. Positive audience feedback, the upcoming Diwali holiday period and strong performances in southern markets could help the film gain momentum over the weekend. Karnataka, in particular, has reportedly delivered an encouraging response, with Yash’s popularity contributing to the opening. Ultimately, the film’s performance over the coming days will be crucial in determining whether it can translate its positive reception into the extraordinary box-office run expected of a project of this magnitude.
