Actor Ram Pothineni believed strongly in the story of Andhra King Taluka and personally involved himself in almost every aspect of the film. He even contributed to writing the lyrics for one of the songs. However, despite all his hard work, Ram has won only hearts, not money.
Directed by Mahesh Babu Pachigolla, the movie released on 27th November and opened to positive reviews. Critics and audiences appreciated Ram’s performance unanimously.
Although the film started slowly at the box office, the trade expected collections to grow steadily in the following days. Unfortunately, that rise did not happen. There was a brief hope that the film might gain momentum after Akhanda 2 was postponed, but Andhra King Taluka saw only a very small jump in collections.
Ram did not take any remuneration for this project because he completely believed in the film. The producers officially announced that he took the distribution rights for the Nizam and Guntur areas instead of his salary.
Generally, Tier-2 stars charge around ₹20 crore as remuneration. But in comparison, Andhra King Taluka did not even earn half of that amount for Ram, as the combined collections from Nizam and Guntur may not even reach double digits by the end of its run.
With Andhra King Taluka, Ram has definitely won love and hearts, but not money. Hopefully, the goodwill from this film will support his upcoming projects. Ram now needs a film that wins both hearts and the box office.
