Director Cibi Chakravarthy has revealed that Thalaivar 173 will showcase Superstar Rajinikanth in his vintage comedy and mass avatar, without any violent touch. He also confirmed that the film’s shooting is likely to begin in April.
It appears that Rajinikanth is looking to move away from action-heavy and violent roles for now. Instead, he is keen on doing a simple commercial family entertainer that can connect with audiences of all age groups and bring back his classic on-screen charm.
Earlier, even before the film was officially announced, director Sundar C was said to be associated with the project, which was planned as a comedy-based film. However, the collaboration did not materialize after the announcement.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj had also mentioned earlier that Rajinikanth was interested in making a light-hearted comedy, a genre he has not explored in recent years. As this idea did not align with Lokesh’s filmmaking style, he chose to step away from the project.
