Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 is one of the most anticipated films this year. It has elevated Telugu cinema to the national level again. With an all-time record of ₹150 crore in advance bookings, Pushpa 2 has set the stage for a historic opening. With immense confidence, the team arranged exclusive premieres before the release date. Let’s have a look at the detailed review of Pushpa 2 The Rule:

Story:

Pushpa begins his reign as a syndicate leader. The film takes a turn when he tries to fulfill his wife’s wish of having a photo with the Chief Minister. How Pushpa fulfills this dream and the consequences he faces forms the crux of the story. It’s a simple storyline.

Movie:

Pushpa 2 is packed with continuous elevations and mass moments, sprinkled with a touch of emotion. Most of the elevation sequences work well. The Jathara episode is a standout, delivering a spectacular cinematic experience, with Allu Arjun undoubtedly giving his career-best performance. This episode alone is worth the ticket price.

Until the Jathara episode, the film feels like a guaranteed blockbuster. However, the narrative starts to dip toward the pre-climax and climax. The setup for Pushpa 3 feels unnecessary and diminishes the overall impact of the film.

Sukumar, known for his logical and calculated storytelling, veers off his usual path in Pushpa 2. He opts for a high-voltage mass entertainer, setting aside his signature logic and depth. Unfortunately, several strong characters from the first half, including the Fahadh Faasil’s role, are underutilized in the second half. Moreover, there isn’t a strong antagonist to challenge Pushpa’s fiery dominance. The emotional thread feels thin and gets stretched unnecessarily, dragging parts of the narrative.

Despite these drawbacks, the mass sequences and Allu Arjun’s stellar performance make Pushpa 2 a must-watch in theaters.

Plus Points:

  • Allu Arjun’s terrific performance
  • Jathara episode
  • Songs and background score
  • Pre-interval and post-interval sequences
  • Rashmika’s scenes

Minus Points:

  • Weak characterizations
  • Lengthy runtime
  • Thin storyline and emotional depth
  • The last 40 minutes leading to the Pushpa 3 cliffhanger
  • Unresolved character arcs

Verdict:

Content-wise, Pushpa 2 is one of Sukumar’s weaker films, but it compensates with relentless mass elevations and action sequences. Allu Arjun’s brilliant performance is enough to make it worth watching. While the film may not feel great in terms of storytelling, it leaves a strong impact. Pushpa 2 will likely succeed at the box office, riding on the hype and ample mass moments to keep audiences engaged.
