The much-awaited sequel, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ has created history in Indian cinema with an unprecedented first-week collection, surpassing previous records by a massive margin. After a phenomenal weekend grossing ₹765 crore worldwide, the movie continued to dominate the box office from its 5th to 7th days, collecting an additional ₹200 crore globally.
The Hindi version, in particular, has emerged as the driving force behind this extraordinary success during weekdays. From days 5 to 7, the Hindi belt alone contributed over ₹100 crore nett, showcasing its immense popularity in the northern market. In contrast, the southern regions, including Telugu, witnessed a slight dip in collections during this period.
Within India, the film raked in approximately ₹175 crore gross between the 5th and 7th days, with the overseas market adding ₹25 crore gross to the total. A significant chunk of the international collections also came from the Hindi version, further cementing its pan-India appeal.
With a total worldwide gross of ₹965 crore by the end of its first week, ‘Pushpa 2’ has shattered the previous record held by ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,’ which had amassed ₹830 crore during its opening week.
The Allu Arjun starrer has surpassed this milestone by a remarkable ₹130 crore, setting a new benchmark for Indian films and positioning itself as a strong contender to challenge ‘Baahubali 2”s lifetime collections.
